But Jesus called the children to him and said, "Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these.”

The Story of All Saints + Baptism

"The feast of All Saints is one of the greatest of all the feasts because it celebrates what could have been impossible. The cross is a tree that bears fruit. This is the feast of its harvest. The celebrations of the mysteries in the life of Our Lord are glorious and there is no detracting from them. But He was God. This day we celebrate the perfecting of human nature, by grace pouring from the side of Christ on the cross, through His Church and His sacraments, remaking men after their despoiling in the Garden."

All Saints' Day is the celebration of all the Saints, known and unknown, who do not have a feast day of their own.  It's a day of remembrance and celebration of the lives of these great men and women in the life and service of Christ and the Church.

A common celebration on All Saints' (like what we are doing at the Advent) is a celebration of the Eucharist and baptisms.  This is a time of dedication for those accepting their baptismal covenant and a renewal of our vows for those of us already put into the Body of Christ.  As through our worship we are joining with the 'communion of saints' in the celebration of Jesus conquering of death and the 'knitting together' of us all in the Body of Christ.

If you have any questions about baptism or our celebrations of the Church calendar, please feel free to email me our children's pastor josh[at]theadventatlanta[dot]org or our parish priest Father Dale at dale[at]theadventatlanta[dot]org.
